New Ground-Up Lobby Addition & Chapel Renovation by PDI
Performance Drywall was proud to play a key role in the transformation and expansion of the historic Belk Chapel at Queens University. This project combined classic architectural design with modern construction methods, requiring a high level of precision in both exterior and interior systems.
Project Scope
- Exterior Metal Stud Framing
- Dome Roof Metal Framing
- Exterior Gypsum and Plywood Sheathing
- Interior Metal Stud Framing
- Wall Insulation
- Drywall Installation
- GFRG Dome and Columns
Our team provided complete metal framing and drywall services, starting with the exterior metal stud framing that formed the foundation of the new lobby addition. The highlight of the project, both architecturally and structurally, was the dome roof metal framing, a complex curved structure requiring expert layout, fabrication, and installation. Once framed, the exterior was enclosed with exterior gypsum and plywood sheathing to ensure long-term durability and weather protection.
Inside, Performance Drywall completed all interior metal stud framing, wall insulation, and full drywall installation throughout the renovated chapel and new lobby. The interior’s defining feature is its elegant circular form, brought to life with custom GFRG (Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum) dome panels and columns. These elements demanded careful coordination and skilled installation to achieve the smooth, seamless architectural finish the chapel required.
From structural framing to the final interior surfaces, we delivered a complete solution that enhanced both the beauty and functionality of this campus landmark. The result is a bright, expansive, and timeless space that will serve students, families, and the community for years to come.
